JENNIFER PETTIGREW

Jennifer Pettigrew has a Diploma in Drawing and Painting from Edinburgh College of Art where her tutors included Sir Robin Phillipson and Sir William Gillies. She taught art in Scotland for many years before finishing her career as Head of Art and Design at The Mary Erskine School in Edinburgh.

Jennifer takes her inspiration from numerous travels abroad, where she finds that new visual images essential to her work can often appear when least expected. Shape, texture, colour and unusual compositions have always been attractions. Jennifer tries to put an idea into any painting rather than just naturalistic representation.

Works include landscape, still life and a mixture of the two. The media which she uses changes constantly, and she continues to experiment with handmade paper, ink, pencil and water based paints.
